This post is about how to make money using social media.
If you’re like most people you love social media but you’re pro.bably thinking that you’re wasting a lot of time and cannot possibly make a career or any money from this time-consuming obsession of yours.
This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclaimer for more information.
But what if I told you that you could be making a lot of money for being on social media? Would you believe me?
In this post, I will show you exactly how to make money using social media by becoming a social influencer (a term most commonly known as word-of-mouth marketing) and why you should probably be using your love for social media as a new online income stream!
An interesting fact you should know
According to Curalate
…the power of word-of-mouth marketing is growing like never before. In fact, word-of-mouth marketing generates sales that are twice as high as traditional paid advertising, and 70% of internet consumers want to learn about a product through content rather than traditional social advertising.
This is presumably the future of advertising and you can be a part of it!
But what exactly are you required to do on social media as a social influencer ?
1. Create a sense of trust in your followers and connect with them
2. Inform them
3. Shape their opinions
That’s it! Now I know it sounds fairly easy, but a lot of work and effort goes into it, so be prepared for that.
Let’s get into it shall we?
If you want to make money online as a social media influencer you should know about the different tiers that are recognized, they include,
1. A top -tier influencer (usually with 100,000 or more followers)
2. A micro influencer (usually with 10,000 -100,000 followers)
3 An influencer-many small bloggers fall into this category (usually with 500- 10,000 followers)
Top tier influencers are influencers like Kim Kardashian (You should have heard of her, she is this lady who married the legendary Kanye West! ). Chances are you may not be on that level
But don’t fret if you don’t have a massive following like Kim K, there are many companies out there who love to work with the little people! I will list some of them in this post for you as well.
I will also list some companies that are always looking for top-tier, mid-tier. Is this really necessary, though? I’m sure companies are knocking on their door and throwing opportunities at them! Sigh.
Without further ado here goes.
Here is a list of Social Influencer Networks that you can join as a top-tier social influencer.
1. Ready Pulse
This company was founded in 2010. You can join the Ready Pulse Influencer Network and inspire consumers by sharing authentic content with them. Find out more about Ready Pulse here.
2. Women’s Influencer Network (WIN)
If you become a social influencer with WIN you will get the opportunity to share fashion, beauty, motherhood, entertainment, health and more with the female audience via Facebook, twitter, Instagram, Tumblr. Their influencers work with brands like Subways, Poshmark, Sally Hansen, Febreeze and more. You can read more about joining WIN here.
This company was founded in 2010. Speakr prides itself of fueling the most impactful social media campaigns for the world largest brands. Some of those brands include Bing, BestBuy, Sony, Ford, Colgate, Microsoft and a whole lot more. You can find out more about becoming a social influencer with Speakr here.
4. The Audience
With brands like Heineken, Target, McDonald’s and American Express to name a few.
According to their website
theAudience is one of the world’s largest multi-channel publishers of social content. We enable global brands to participate in popular culture at massive scale, distributing brand stories through our network of celebrity and social influencers.
You can find out more about the audience here.
Now, I’ve never been a social influencer before but I do tons of research online before I speak and so to authenticate those words, here is proof
A great example of a successful top-tier social influencer is Sincerely Jules (Julie Sarinana)
Stats: She has 3.9 million followers on Instagram! Impressive or what?!
She usually promotes fashion-related content and collaborates with many top women’s fashion brands such as Gap, Nordstrom, and Revolve Clothing.
Now I know what many of you are thinking. I don’t have such a large following as Julie Sarinana, so how will I make money doing this?
There is hope for you. Many companies are looking for micro influencers and this must mean something. It means you can make money from this. Lots of it if you’re serious too!
Another interesting fact that will cheer you up if you have a smaller following and want to become a social media influencer.
According to Digiday, when a social media influencer reaches critical mass, their engagement rate starts to decrease. According to Digiday, they surveyed 200 million social influencers and found an interesting phenomenon which can be summed up here:
Sarah Ware, CEO and co-founder of Markerly, said that when her company engaged with the Jenner and Kardashian sisters on Instagram on behalf of a weight-loss tea company, the celebrities helped bring hundreds of conversions. Which was nice. But by activating 30 to 40 “micro-influencers,” the brand was able to convert at an even higher level.
Therefore, you as a social influencer with smaller numbers can become very valuable to brands.
Remember, mid-tier influencers have a following of about 10,000-100,000 on a social platform.
Here are companies that are happy to work with micro influencers.
If you have a smaller following you can become an influencer at gnack,
This is what Gnack believes
Here, your opinion has value, no matter how many followers you have.

A great example of a successful micro influencer is Liberty Fairs

He usually promotes high-end men’s wear.
Finally, some companies looking for social influencers with under 10,000 followers include:
1. BoostInsider- This company was founded in 2014. You can join them and get paid to share information about products and services on your social media platforms such as your Pinterest account. your twitter account, your blog and so on. You can join this influencer network here.
2. Social Spark- You can get paid anywhere for $5 to $100 for posts that you write for Social Spark. You can sign up for Social Spark here.

A great example of a mid-tier successful social media influencer is Liz Wible (Lizandlavander)
Stats: She has 6948 followers on Instagram!
She usually promotes and styles handmade and organic products.
So for many of you who may have less than 10,000 followers, you should definitely look into the websites listed above or just Google social influencer opportunities for people with less than 5000 followers. You’re sure to find some great opportunities.
Most of the brands seeking social influencers to reach consumers for them are brands that most of you already use and love plus, most of you love social media and can spend hours presumably wasting time. So, why not leverage the two and start making money for being online.
