Believe me, it is!

Pinterest makes people tons of money every single month. I’m not kidding! There are people making upwards of $10,000 per month using Pinterest. Even I am making a great side income using Pinterest every single month.

Last year I decided that I was going to have a go at making money online. But, I didn’t want an online job. I had tried them out before and they were okay, but they didn’t give me the level of income plus freedom that I wanted. That’s when I decided to start a blog. And I didn’t know it yet, but Pinterest was gonna be the driving force behind my success!

I now make over $3000 per month from the visitors I get to my blog, with Pinterest being my main source of blog visitors.

I want to share how I do this, plus a few other methods of making money from Pinterest.

That is why I will explain exactly how to make money on Pinterest in this post.

Affiliate Marketing directly on Pinterest

This is probably the simplest and in some cases fastest way to start making money on Pinterest. However, know off the bat that this method will provide many restrictions.

For instance, Pinterest may classify some of your affiliate links as spam. This means, you won’t be able to share them on the platform, which sucks.

Also, because you’re linking directly to affiliate products/services, the user from Pinterest will be taken directly to the destination. That means they have no opportunity to make a personal connection with you and trust you. Therefore, many people might not take any action and you may not earn anything.

Anyways, this isn’t always the case.

How to make money on Pinterest using affiliate marketing

1. You will need to find some products or services that you can feel confident promoting and sign up for those affiliate programs.

2. You then will need to sign up for for the affiliate program in order to get your affiliate link. This link will have some tracking codes that help the company recognize when you’ve referred a customer so that they can attribute your commissions to you.

3. You will then create a pin that you will start sharing on Pinterest. When someone clicks through to that pin to purchase, sign up or take any other action that the affiliate program requested, you will make some money.

Blogging with Pinterest (my favorite)

Like I said, this is my favorite tip on how to make money on Pinterest for a few reasons as this method is easier and gives you the opportunity to make money in multiple different ways.

This method gives you the opportunity to make money in multiple ways including:

Making money on Pinterest with ads

You can create a blog that people from Pinterest can use as a  resource for valuable information, then make money from this blog when you get visitors from Pinterest to visit and see or click on your ads. For instance, I get an average of 30k visitors to my blog each month, out of that, 90% of these visitors come from Pinterest. I have multiple ads hosted on my blog, and I’m able to make anywhere from $500 -$1000 from the ads on my blog each month.

I’m not the only one who makes a nice side income from ads hosted on my blog, the majority of the other bloggers I know of are doing well with ads as well.

Making money selling e-books and e-courses

You can create a blog and make money by selling e-books and or e-courses on your blog. This method is ideal for people who want to make money specifically from their expertise. For instance, if you’re really great with health and wellness, you can create a health and wellness e-book or e-course and make money selling it on your blog. You can get people to your blog by using Pinterest.

How to make money on Pinterest with Affiliate Marketing

You can use affiliate marketing on your blog and make money from that.

What is affiliate marketing?

This is a marketing arrangement by which an online retailer pays a commission to an external website (people like you and me) for traffic or sales generated from its referrals. It’s essentially big companies paying us for helping them to market their products or services to the people we can reach online.

Making money with Sponsored posts

As a blogger, you can make hundreds of dollars by reviewing the products or services you use. Here is a list of websites that help bloggers (pro and new) connect with advertisers looking for reviews. You can check out Sponsored Reviews  and Pay Per Post for such opportunities.

Making money with Amazon Associates program

Are you familiar with the Amazon Associates program?

If you are, you will know that some people are making a living off of this program. You simply need to sign up for this program, then start promoting their products on your website or blog. When someone clicks through to Amazon from your affiliate link, you have a chance to make commissions on any product that this person purchases from Amazon within 24 hours.

Having a blog and linking to Amazon products is an awesome way to make money.  Click here to learn how this lady makes over $5000 per month using her blog, Amazon associates and Pinterest for traffic. You should definitely check her out if this sounds interesting to you.

Since it’s illegal to link to Amazon products on Pinterest, having a blog or website is the best way to start using Amazon Associates to make money.

Selling your Etsy or Shopify merchandise via Pinterest

Have you ever dreamed of opening an Etsy or Shopify store?

If you have, but you have not done so as yet, it’s likely because you’re concerned about finding an ideal way to promote your merchandise and so you’re worried you won’t make any sales.

However, you can use Pinterest to do that!

Say what?

You can actually set up an amazing online store, then create pins to your products and use Pinterest as your primary method of promotion. And you can drive a ton of sales from Pinterest!

I’ve explained multiple ways you can start to make money using Pinterest. Now, I will explain the steps you need to follow to actually make this type of money from Pinterest using any of the methods outlined above.

You can use every single method outlined here to make money. This is one of the reasons why there are bloggers who make over $25,000- $100,000 per month online. Most of their income comes from ads, affiliate marketing, sponsor posts and selling digital products and they find their visitors or customers from Pinterest.

Blogging or owning a website is a great option since it allows you to implement multiple methods of earning money from your blog using Pinterest. Unlike option 1, which limits you to making money from e-book/e-course sales or affiliate marketing, having a blog or website, opens you up to being able to make money from ALL of the methods mentioned above.

Plus, it gives you the added advantage of being able to build a relationship with your readers/visitors which can increase your likelihood of getting repeat visitors or repeat sales and builds great trust.

Now, let’s learn how to start getting noticed on Pinterest

Sign up for a Pinterest business account (It’s FREE)

It’s completely free to sign up for a Pinterest Business Account, and it helps to legitimize your blog or website with Pinterest. Having a business account also allows you to connect your site to your Pinterest account so that you can see your Pinterest analytics (this is very useful to people who want to improve their results from Pinterest)

Some of the things analytics show you is how many people are seeing your pins, how many are repinning, and how many are clicking through to your site.

Create at least 10 boards and add 30+ pins to each one

Create at least 10 boards that are related to your niche or topic of focus. Make sure to include some popular topics on those boards.

Make sure to also add 20-30 pins on each of those boards (they do not have to be yours as yet) so that it’s populated and when people come to your profile, they have more stuff to look at and interact with.

Make sure to add a short description for each board. This could be 1-2 sentences long and describes what people can expect on this board.

Create pinnable images for your content.

Whether you’ve chosen to start a blog and write blog posts and content or create an Etsy or Shopify store to promote your products, or just jump straight into direct affiliate marketing,  you will need to create pins to promote your self on Pinterest.

I use Canva to create all of my images. You can use it for free. Also, here is a tutorial on how to create interesting pins for Pinterest that will help you capture people’s attention on Pinterest.

I also highly recommend this e-course. I use it to learn new strategies for promoting my content on Pinterest, but I’ve found that this e-course teaches you the best tips for creating AMAZING pins that will drive lots of visitors to your site/blog or affiliate link. You should definitely have a look at it here.

Request To Join Group Boards

These are very important if you want to get visitors from Pinterest. When you’re starting off on Pinterest, you likely won’t have many followers. This is where group boards come in. They’re essentially Pinterest boards that have thousands or even millions of followers. Your aim is to try to get on at least 6 great group boards with 15k followers or more. That way, when you share your pins there, they have a much better chance of being seen by more people and thus repinned.

Pin like crazy!

In order to get seen on Pinterest, you have to pin a lot!

I personally pin between 100-120 pins every single day. I know you may think this is excessive but it’s not! I use a tool to help me pin at least three-quarters of those and I pin the rest manually. My tool of choice is Boardbooster.
